Holding the Kingdom With Open Hands

Seeking the kingdom first was never presented as seeking the kingdom only. The promise attached to it — that other things would be added — assumes those other things still matter.

What changes under kingdom priority is not the presence of ordinary concerns but their order. Work, family, ambition, rest — all remain, reorganized around a different center.

This reordering is rarely comfortable, because it usually asks us to release the thing we were gripping tightest.
